In this project, we learnt various complex weaving structures and using these structures we had to translate our inspiration onto the fabric. My inspiration for this project was the phenomenon of 'Iridescence in nature'. For the first warp, I decided to work with the brilliant colors of the blue morpho butterfly. Using the reference images, I created the artworks and arrived at a color gradation to be used in the warp. Most of the samples have been woven keeping the artworks in mind. Different structures like double cloth, extra warp and backed cloth have been used for the same. Materials used are 2/60s art. silk for the various shades of blue and 2/60s cotton for black warp.
