The purpose of this project was to design a poster that would sell a font to a designer. After doing preliminary pencil sketches of possible typography layout, I created digital sketches (seen below) using my chosen font of Baskerville MT Pro.
The origin of Baskerville is a 19th century font design and I wanted to be true to the feeling of that era in the design. When adding color, I was drawn to the brighter and more modern tones of the first two color variations. I felt that the third variation was the closest color choice, but it still felt too dark. I also feel like there's almost something kind of proper about this font and the other three color variations weren't contributing to that idea in my mind. I did want to have a more modern color palette but I also wanted to stay true to the era of the font and designer.
Using that third color palette I liked, I continued variations. The end result is a final poster design and color story that I feel complements the Baskerville typeface.
