I wanted to explore a more cohesive and unified ceramic mug, where the relationship between the handle and mug itself was more considered and smoothly flowed into one another -- rather than simply tacked on after the main piece is finished.
This results in a sturdy, easier to hold mug where the mass of the drink isn't levering against your grip to balance -- and the handle is still clear of the face while drinking.
The design required a four-part plaster mold for slipcasting, and this negative mold itself had to be constructed with a dozen 3D printed negatives.
