Drawing Judge Dredd

Drawing Judge Dredd
Ok so I had a bit of a nightmare drawing this one because of the Bristol smooth paper or it was my technique... could be a bit of both hmmmm. Anyway I made a good start and drawing Dredd again from scratch would have taken to long so I carried on and after eighty hours of burnishing coloured pencil my arm is now throbbing. The Derwent Lightfast are also a bit different from Polychromos for example I think, because I have seen a lot of good Artwork drawn with other coloured pencil brands on Bristol Board. My idea for drawing Judge Dredd was to have some really powerful blacks up against the over saturated colours of the reds and oranges and I think I did achieve that. Drawing the gold was probably the hardest part because I have never drawn it before with coloured pencil and also it had to look like it was apart of the overall portrait. I have put a link below of a video that I did on how to draw gold so if your interested give it a watch.
