WorkSource Georgia - Award Promo

The State of Georgia’s Office of Workforce Development, also known as WorkSource Georgia, is housed within the Technical College System of Georgia. WorkSource Georgia is the state’s federally-funded employment and training system, working to connect talent with opportunity. These federal funds are part of a grant program called the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA).

WorkSource Georgia aims to feature the stories of our hard-working staff members and inspiring Georgia citizens by honoring their accomplishments through creating a state-wide dedicated award program called "The WorkSource Georgia Hall of Fame."

Local Workforce Development Areas (19 in total) WorkSource Georgia staff could nominate customers, or Leading Achievers, who took advantage of WorkSource Georgia services and successfully obtained job training, certifications, diplomas, or new employment. WorkSource Georgia staff could nominate other staff, or Leading Connectors, to appreciate the staff member’s dedication to connecting Georgians’ talent to new opportunity.

The Award Promo Video project was just one element used to advertise the WorkSource Georgia Hall of Fame program and how Georgians from all walks of life are working hard, day in and day out, to better themselves and each other.

We included the video in internal newsletter correspondence (powered by MailChimp) and shared graphics on our Facebook and Twitter pages to encourage submissions.

Once the submissions were gathered from the 19 Local Development Areas (ideally 2 submissions from each area), the WorkSource Georgia Hall of Fame Committee would review and select 2 Grand Prize winners, one Leading Achiever and one Leading Connector, to be inducted to the WorkSource Georgia Hall of Fame. Each winner would be awarded with:

1) an all expense paid trip to our WorkSource Georgia Academy (annual learning conference for Workforce development professionals) including meals
2) WorkSource Georgia trophy with engraved nameplate
3) $1,000 cash prize per winner (donated) and
4) photo added to WorkSource Georgia Hall of Fame wall at the state office in Atlanta.

While the program has been postponed due to COVID-19, we are looking forward to honoring this year’s submissions in 2021.

The Award Video Promo was created and shared at the WorkSource Georgia Academy 2019 in Jekyll Island, GA to hype up the event for the following year.

We received a handful of submissions prior to COVID-19 and we can't wait to share these powerful stories and inspiring submissions next year!
For this video project, Andrea Young (Digital Content Specialist) compiled video from past video projects and documentaries to create this short video promotion using Adobe Premiere. Adobe After Effects was used for titling. The effects control panel offered in Adobe Premiere for controlling the opacity and movement of layers and graphics. Tyler Johnson (Branding and Graphic Design Specialist) used Adobe Illustrator worked to create the logos for the WorkSource Georgia Hall of Fame as well as the Leading Connector and Leading Achiever Logos. He also worked in Adobe Photoshop to create all accompanying still graphics to advertise the program on social media.
