One of the most symbolic features of Star Wars are its mystical laser swords called light sabers. Portable, able to cut through almost anything, and capable of deflecting blaster bolts, these tools are the weapon of choice for Jedi and Sith.
Around 4000 BBY, light saber crystals were used to indicate a Jedi's chosen class. Blue indicated a Jedi Guardian, a Jedi who used the Force on a more physical level. Green indicated a Jedi Consular, a Jedi who preferred to reflect on the mysteries of the Force and fight the dark side at its heart. Yellow indicated a Jedi Sentinel, a Jedi who honed his or her skills in a balance of combat and scholarly pursuits.

Who uses it: Sith and Dark Jedi: this sabers are powered by synthetic crystals.
The Mood: Negotiation
Who uses it: Used by the sentinel class, who prefer stealth and ingenuity to combat.
The Mood: Peace through force,when necessary
Who uses it: Jedi consulars who prefer negotiation and meditation to combat, but have strong force abilities.
The Mood: Moral ambiguity
Who uses it: Jedi who use both light and dark side techniques, with an aggressive style. The purple colour may be interpreted as a mixture of blue(good) and red(evil).
The Mood: Justice and protection
Who uses it: Jedi guardians who fight for the light side and skilled lighsaber warriors.
