The client wanted to give a face to his book, his life's story. He had transformed his painful, but ultimately victorious experience into a part-book, part-course on how to restore your marriage when it's been through infidelity and addiction.

When we started work the client had several concepts, which were good, but he was unsure of them, so he shared his life's story, the how's and why's of how he created the book and once I understood him and his pain and most importantly, his victory, we worked together to establish the concept that will work.

The first sketches were about finding the concept that worked best.

Once we chose the post-apocalyptic concept to the left, we knew it needed polishing. So we established the problems and found the solution in a new composition, one which emphasizes the struggle and battle that was the journey to a restored marriage. That solution had an effect on the chosen font as well.
