Throne Room
A project to create a new range of novelty toys and gifts all with a unifying toilet-humour theme that should appeal to a range of ages, based on each product's needs.
A cartoony style was chosen to give links to the Beano's sense of mischief that could appeal to adults and kids alike. I spent much time of many of the titles, straplines and illustrations, making them into puns and gags to add extra jokey value to the range - the product was only half of the joke, and if the packaging didn't add to it in some way then it was not fulfilling its purpose.
I love this project because I think it shows the power packaging has. For instance, a poo puppet is a funny gift, but with straplines like Have a Word with a Turd and an illustration of it bursting from a toilet, the product gets even funnier because it has context.
