Photography Essentials supports students to learn the fundamental building blocks of creating a great photo through an emphasis on light, composition, color, and tonality. This class will include hands-on shooting assignments that will introduce digital photography techniques using your smartphone, as well as an opportunity to work with alternative photography processes at home. You will learn to skillfully edit your photos using mobile photo editing apps, and how to best save and share your images. You will also explore making photographic images without the use of a camera, using photo-sensitive materials to create exciting cyanotypes and lumen prints.
