Baphomet
SOFT SCULPTURE
Baphomet is the center piece for my solo exhibition called Creatures of the Night at Clutter Gallery in Beacon, NY. Baphomet will be on display from September 12th - October 4th.

The idea of Baphomet has been around for centuries and has many controversial religious views. But when you take religion out of the equation, the Baphomet’s main symbolism is opposites existing in harmony: up/down, female/male, animal/human. Eliphas Levi (where the modern image of Baphomet comes from) even wrote “the perfect harmony of mercy with justice.”

I found it to be the perfect representation of my work; creating characters that encompass the balance of opposites, by taking misunderstood creatures perceived as ugly or evil and helping to reveal their hidden beauty.
