On June 2, members of George Floyd’s family along with Trae the Truth and Bun B led 60,000 peaceful protesters from Houston's Discovery Green to City Hall.  With no reported fatalities, the event will be remembered as the largest official protest ever held in Houston. Despite fears related to the Covid-19 global pandemic, thousands paved the streets in a beautiful display of solidarity. Inspired by these historic events, Keyeser & Marie is publishing March Houston, a photo book memorializing the unique event.

This Beautiful and Terrible Thing

Brokered humanity and legislated love are nothing but ‘Christmas gift’ offerings that are given up because love presented itself in the streets; revolutionary love that is. What this ‘swell’ puts out there in the open is that there is a flexibility in the ‘freedom struggle’, that revolutionary love is that love that saves your brother, protects him, fights for him. It calls into question the weapons at your disposal as well as the spirit in which you use them.

Still Black. Still Strong.
Pussy. Ass. Hoe. Oppressor.
Like Water for Chocolate

Before the slave ships. UJIMAA, were our relationships.
If you comprehend put up your black fist.
But will you really die for this? Sacrifice your life for this?
Nothing comes easy, you know you got to fight for strength.
