Melted Wax
Memory Box created from wood, decorated with old found photographs. Complete with a clasp and handles on the sides and top.
This project had a social aspect surrounding its creation. I decided to go around to all the cigarette recepticals around campus and collect all of the ash and buts. This is a commentary on the time limit smokers are putting on their lives and on the flip side the time wasted while smoking.
This project was a site specific project so I decided to pick this entry way in MICA's Main Building. I cut the pieces of wood to fit exactly in this space with no support whatsoever except for pressure from the two walls.
For this project I had to consider the material, where it came from, and where it was going afterwards. I decided to use all natural material that would eventually decompose. I decided to take a religious standpoint and creat a triangular prism representing God, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. This was also a commentary on life and death and the creating of life. All of the sticks are held together by grass and Dandelion stems tied together.
